Lula Washington Dance Theater GOLDWednesday, October 28, 2009 - 7 pm $29 One of the most admired African-American contemporary dance companies in the United States, the works of this ten-member company from Los Angeles touch issues such as homelessness, the 9/11 tragedy, the civil rights movement, and the Underground Railroad. Juan Carmona SILVERMonday, November 16, 2009 - 7 pm $27 This Grammy award winning flamenco guitarist from Spain will feature a five-piece band (guitar, flute, percussion, bass, and a female vocal/dancer), performing both traditional Spanish and familiar Latin American works. Ten O’Clock Classics BRONZEMonday, February 1, 2010 - 7 pm $23 This violin, cello, piano, and vocal soprano are dubbed “the hip of classical music.” The group seeks to bring classical music to a broader audience and features classical selections, plus more contemporary works such as Gershwin and Scott Joplin. Cabaret GOLDFriday, March 12, 2010 - 7 pm $29 One of the most celebrated Broadway musicals of all times, this winner of 12 Tony awards set in Nazi Germany focuses on nightlife at the seedy Kit Kat Klub and revolves around an English cabaret performer, Sally Bowles. Enter the Haggis BRONZESaturday, March 20, 2010 - 7 pm $23 This young, high-energy collision of Celtic and world styles features a five-piece band from Toronto. The group seeks to push the boundaries of what people think of as Celtic music and bring a taste of rock and world music to the genre. Home Free BRONZEThursday, April 22, 2010 - 7 pm $23 This male a capella group is a perfect fusion of comedy and four part harmony. The group features a broad repertoire of work, from pop to jazz, performed with outstanding vocal percussions. Strings of Fire SILVERFriday, May 14, 2010 - 7 pm $27 Ramon Romero leads this group featuring Latin harp, guitar, charango and vocals takes the audience on tour of the fiery and lyrical music of South America. Their repertoire features music from Paraguay, Argentina, Chile, and Brazil. |
